CALED In Action California's economic development leaders honored Assemblymember Juan Arambula, Chair of the Assembly Committee for Jobs, the Economy, and Economic Development for his outstanding economic development policy leadership in the California Legislature. CALED surprised Arambula by presenting him with their "Legislator of the Year" Award at CALED's 26th Annual Conference in Palm Springs. This award is special. This only the second time in CALED's 26-year history that it has been presented. Paul Saldana, President, Tulare Economic Development Corporation and current CALED Board Chair said, "Juan deserves this honor because he has shown great leadership on issues affecting the State's prosperity and has elevated the importance of economic development through his work as Chair of the Committee." Raising the awareness of the value of economic development is key to understanding how California's economic developers work hard to create new jobs and keep existing ones. Wayne Schell, CALED President & CEO, presented the award, crediting Arambula for taking the development of California's economy seriously and actually doing something with the JEDE Committee. He stated, "Juan sticks to his guns and does what he believes is right for California's communities, businesses, and residents. We want him to know that his efforts are appreciated." At the Conference Award Ceremony, Arambula received a standing ovation from over 300 economic development stakeholders from across the state including top economic development leaders such as Victoria L. Bradshaw, Secretary, California Labor and Workforce Development Agency; Sunne Wright McPeak, Secretary of the Business, Transportation, and Housing Agency and Brian McMahon, Director, California Workforce Investment Board. |
