CALED’s Brownfields & Land Revitalization Committee

CALED formed a statewide Brownfields & Land Revitalization Committee (BLRC) in fall of 2014 to identify funds, tools, and expertise to help California communities and economic development professionals revive and develop key sites. The Committee consists of professionals who have been working on a wide variety of Brownfield issues for many years. These professionals include redevelopment experts, project finance experts, attorneys and environmental consultants.

The Committee’s purpose is to educate communities and practitioners on model practices in development of Brownfield properties, and it has created a special Education and Communications Subcommittee. Committee members can provide insight on issues including remediation of environmentally impacted sites, will inform the CALED Legislative Action Committee and Board leadership on Brownfields legislation impacting economic development, and will work to build relationships with key regulators.

Keep your eyes peeled for further updates on the groups’ activities and look for educational opportunities in the near future.
